HERAN VIOLONCELLO COMPETITION

International Music Competition for Youth
Member of the Europian Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY) in Munich

ORGANIZATION RULES

This competition is announced for young violoncellists up to the age of 16 years. Competitors are divided into 4 categories:

• 1^st category up to 10 years old
• 2^nd category up to 12 years old
• 3^rd category up to 14 years old
• 4^th category up to 16 years old.

Decisive date is the year of birth.

The participants cover all their costs of travelling, boarding and accommodation. The organizers will ensure places for rehearsals, information booklets, another promotional material and further services.

On the base of the Statute of the Jury, the Organizer appoints the members of the jury. The jury is international. The competitors have no right to present any objections against the composition of the jury.

The set pieces (obligatory compositions) are given in the Supplement of the Organization Rules.

The competition consists of two rounds.
First round is anonymous. Competitors will be announced by numbers and perform the obligatory composition. The jury will evaluate the best competitors who proceed to the second round. In the second round they will play the free (optional) composition.
The optional composition should not last more than:

• 6 minutes in the 1^st category
• 10 minutes in the 2^nd category
• 15 minutes in the 3^rd category
• 20 minutes in the 4^th category.

In case of exceeding the time limit, the jury may stop the competitor before he has finished his performance. Both the obligatory and the optional compositions must be played by heart.

Competitors will play in the order given by lot numbers which they have drawn in draw lots. Each draw lot starts 15 minutes before the beginning of each category and round. The competitor who does not come in time for drawing lots will not be allowed to play in the competition.

Jury is entitled to award the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd prize and Honourable Mentions of the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd grade. Other competitors will receive a Memorable Certificate in remembrance of their participation in HVC.

Only competitors who reach the limits specified by the Jury will proceed to the second round. The competitors who do not pass will receive the Memorable Certificate in remembrance of the participation in HVC immediately at the announcement of the results.

After conclusion of the whole competition the Jury will announce the absolute winner who will have the right to use the title "Laureate of Heran Violoncello Competition".

The competitors will receive their prizes and other awards at the Concert of Winners. If the competitor does not come to take over the prize, this will forfeit in favour of organizers. The winners on the first to third places will perform at the Concert of Winners. The Jury may appoint further competitors to perform at this concert. The competitors will be informed about it at the announcement of results and they are due to perform.

The organizers do not ensure piano accompaniment!

Any comments, objections or possibly disagreements will be solved by the Organization Committee irrevocably.
